Sometimes I really do think he's a time traveller from the Taisho Era.
Koichi doesn't know what an ATM is.
I just. What?
I hope he actually knows what it is but just doesn't know that it's called an ATM, and calls it by the long-ass Japanese name no one actually uses. Because if he didn't use an ATM--how would he live? It's not like many Japanese stores accept credit cards, and God knows he can't even use his keitai to text well, much less do those new keitai bank transfer things. Haha, maybe that's why he always wears old jerseys and robes instead of clothes, and tries to get Tsuyoshi to buy him clothes. He has no cash! ...I hope he doesn't make his MANAGER get him cash. I mean I know Kinki has a lot of managers, but it pisses me off to see the staff treated like servants.
It's kind of sad in a way that you can almost trace the date when Koichi's pop culture knowledge ends to when he became more workaholic/hermitic/obsessive hobbyist (around 2000 or so?). But I KNOW they had ATMs that were called ATMs back then. I guess as a kid you don't need to use them a lot? But still. I forgive him for not knowing about PASMO because he doesn't take the train or watch TV. But sometimes he needs to put down the F1 magazines and take walk outside.
ETA: LOL at the Nakai/Kusanagi kiss in SMAPxSMAP. Was that scripted?? It *seems* like it was. Was it broadcast? Hee, I think Nakai!girls are my favorite of all the SMAP girls. Nakai!girls are just so adorable.
