I've recently been being viciously attacked by vidbunnies from every direction. They lie in wait.

So. There are too many vidbunnies! So many lyrics! I can't handle it! I'm paralyzed by indecision! Help!

I need to focus and commit. ::bites lip::

Hmm, Twitch City would take a lot of *thinking* and *percolating* since I just came up with the idea like yesterday. And the song seems non-OT3 friendly and I, err, am. A lack of Callum in the vid would be sad. Hmmm. This needs more thinky. ::clutches head::

The problem is that whenever I start to think of one vid, another starts ambushing my brain. So unfair.

Another vote for DS serious/sexy! They may be difficult, but you are certainly up to it (I cite "Fallen" and "Needful," both of which are brilliant)--and besides, we don't have near enough, especially F/K vids! But I don't have, like, an opinion on this or anything. LOL

I'm sure whatever you opt for will be fantastic, though. Loved the Twitch City one you just posted even though I've never seen Twitch City. Now that I've seen your vid, though, I have to get hold of it and see it!

There is a severe lack of vids in this fandom in general, compared to even like Highlander, a show of the same era. So #2 again, check! I'll see what I can do.

Fenlings, you're a doll. I downloaded several of the eps and it really is clever and funny! And it goes without saying that Newbie's adorable, of course. Isn't Callum adorable in everything he does? Love the hair! Callum is about 39 years old in that ep, and he looks 25, if that.

But the biggest kick in the ep I watched (1-05) was the scene in the convenience store when Newbie and Hope are dancing around like dorks to some Quebecois bubblegum music and Newbie dances over to the customer at the counter to ask him (totally deadpan) if he needs anything else, and the customer is Hugh Dillon! Not just Hugh Dillon, but Hugh Dillon standing there chewing gum and looking at Newbie like he's something slimy that just crawled out of a swamp. I laughed so hard I almost woke the household. I'll bet it went over about that way when it aired in Canada.

Here in the US, it's a geek in-joke, I guess, but if this is geekdom (and to quote Fraser, I've come to accept that) I'm happy here. :)

Just wish we had such intelligent, low-budget Canadian TV here, too.

Hee, yeah the dancing and random Hugh Dillon is awesome. HD guest-stars one more time later in the series as a, err, rather different character too. Wow I can't believe Callum is that old there. But then again, I can't believe Jeremy Irons is 57 either.

Thanks! Hope is wonderful, too. She is one of the more interesting actresses I've seen in a while.

And as to HD, I should be getting HCL any day now, and I can't wait. Wow...HD is magnetic onscreen, even without saying a word, and that surprised me. I mean, I knew CKR was a magnet, and I bought the DVD strictly because he's in it. HD is much handsomer with his hair grown in, though I know the Mohawk works perfectly for the Joe Dick character. But it's not looks that makes him compelling onscreen; it's presence. Anyway, now I'll have to do stuff like buy his albums, cuz I've only heard a few of his songs so far.

Oh, and I should have mentioned...in the same ep of TC, when Newbie moves in, he brings his VHS tape collection, and he and Curtis are exclaiming over the titles...and it's like the quintessential media-geek scene...and I was sitting there feeling like I was in the Twilight Zone, because I knew all the shows they mentioned--SAW them all in first-run, have some of them on DVD now and wish some others were available (like, The Man From Atlantis--bad, bad, but young thin Patrick Duffy in a tight bathing suit). There's a bit of an anachronism going on in that scene, I think, because some of those shows could not have been videotaped off TV when originally shown, as VCRs weren't commercially available back then, and I don't think all of those shows have been rerun.

So I was feeling weirdly nostalgic and squicky at the same time--like I am one of the geeks they were making fun of. At least Don McKellar is, too, so I'm not alone. You'd have to be, to write that episode. Of course, I am a contemporary of his and CKR's. I am exactly 6 days younger than CKR. And by the way, he's *not* old. 45 is younger than it used to be. :) :)

Heh, I remember some of those shows too, and I have a MASSIVE 700+ tape collection at home. So, yeah, also a TV and movie geek like Curtis. There might have been different syndication rights in Canada, but even if Newbie only watched the shows as a child and didn't tape them, he could have gotten the tape from a tape exchange with a country where the shows were still being shown in syndication, I suppose. I don't think they were ever really *making fun* of Curtis. I mean, not more than they made fun of any other character on that show. (It made fun of Hope's string of meaningless jobs and Nathan's wheel of chores just as much as Curtis's obsession with TV.) I really liked the way that TC didn't try to judge the characters or give them a lesson or us a lesson through them.

HCL is really good. I wish I had waited like two weeks till the DVD release with the commentary came out, but I had to have it NOW so I just bought a VHS. But yeah. Tasty. HD really is such a rock star, and it shines through the movie. He doesn't have to pretend.
