I AM THE WIN!

You know what I did at work today? I hung out all day in the nice, heated LL 準備室! (Heh, I always feel like Picard when I say that.)
Today was the practice for the graduation and big cleaning and preparation for it tomorrow, so I had nothing to do! I took my computer upstairs and passed the day in heated comfort. Um, and read the SGA Figure Skating AU WIP. Hee! God, this fandom is like Gundam Wing, with the trashy AUs...
And it was awesome because usually I read fic at work, but since I was by myself and not in the teachers' room, I could read fic, BUT DO OTHER THINGS TOO!
So I watched the latest episode of Numb3rs and some Sentinel vids, and put the finishing touches on my vid (which should be coming out tomorrow).
HOW AWESOME A WORKDAY IS THAT, PEOPLE?
I totally packed myself a bento of rice and mikan and waaaay too much karaage chicken, but you know? I didn't starve! I can survive without conbinis!
And then! And then!
*After* work, I was an Intrepid Suburban Explorer, armed with only my laptop, as I turned the opposite direction from the school that I usually go so as to get the lay of the land (after of course looking at multiple maps and bringing one with me). I completed the circuit that goes from my apartment to the school to the grocery store, and now I know where things are!
Well, kinda. The point of the Intrepid Suburban Exploration was to pick up some conbini food from another conbini near the grocery store on the way home.
A Lawson. Which was on ALL THE MAPS EVER.
IN BLUE WITH ITS FREAKING MILK CAN SIGN.
But no. It is apparently a MYTHIC Lawson, like Camelot. No one knows where it was, or where it is now. It's certainly not near the grocery store.
THWARTED, I returned home.
And I might not have *remembered* exactly that today was the thrice-annual non-burnable garbage pick-up day, but when I saw the strange trash in the collection area, I *realized* it fast enough and got my trash out there too. So now I am FREE of all the weird trash that's been hoarded under the stove since the Era of My Predecessor. ::does the trash-free dance::
But after all that, did I remain at home?
No! I ventured forth AGAIN!
BACK to the grocery store, and this time I asked a nice police bike-ticketing man where the conbini was. (Man my actual speaking of Japanese is rusty. How ironic that I spoke more Japanese in America! But I'm supposed to be the Embodiment of the English Language, so...)
Nice policeman (who was totally laughing-on-the-inside at the hapless gaijin) directed me to a nearby 7-11 that was literally like 100 feet away (down another street I hadn't explored before! go me!).
But was this 7-11 on any of the maps? OF COURSE NOT. No, that would make SENSE. For people who read maps to actually... oh I don't know... FIND OUT WHERE THINGS ARE.
Well. Anyway, I know where it is now, and I got some conbini prepared-food staples. Then back to the grocery store/mall where I bought shoes!
Yes, Mimi, SHOES! For like ten bucks! I hope they last well. (It's a good thing, too, because I think I pulled something trying to wear my rarely-worn tennis shoes today as my outdoor-shoes-replacements.) I'm only a 7 1/2 in the States, but here I'm like the absolute biggest size you can commonly find. I felt like a giant next to all these tiny shoes!
Then *after* the shoes and getting money, I bought SO MANY GROCERIES. And then I CARRIED THEM ALL HOME. Gah.
Then I washed dishes and took a shower and made spaghetti and was generally AWESOME AT CHORES.
Now I need to actually *clean* the apartment. Ick.
Tomorrow is graduation, where I will wear black and freeze to death in the gym and then we will be served a sushi lunch. Hmm. I hope there aren't any ninja wasabi sneak-attacks. I don't trust them... ::packs mikan and yogurt::

Date: 2006-03-15 02:26 pm (UTC)I think its funny that you made a note of what you're going to wear tomorrow. Also, that you hid in a warm spot, and played on your computer. Haha, and your distrust for other people to properly feed you and paranoia about starving. CUTE!
Go forth, my little Qonquistador!

Man, you know that is *all I ever want to do*.

Dude, who *knows* what their idea of a good sushi lunch is. My mouth already thinks that sushi in general is Questionable.
Go forth, my little Qonquistador!

AHAHAHAHAHA. I forgot about trash sorting (in fact, I hear that in some cities *cough* YOKOHAMA *cough* they don't have to do it). Fear the non-recyclable and non-burnable. (American packaging was such crap to deal with.) Do the crows still peck at and spread the burnable garbage? There was a show one time on TV about crows that had started to attack people... creepy.
Man my actual speaking of Japanese is rusty
Talking with Iguchi-sensei is so embarassing and hard now... somehow, I think your Japanese is still better than most people's. Although I hear Sandy is now virtually fluent.

Date: 2006-03-16 02:39 am (UTC)I would like to add my congratualtions to the stack. You explored the unknown! And asked for help! Go you!
Though, your reliance on conbini food is perhaps mockable. Though, I do not live in Japan, and therefore probably have no room to mock the conbini-addicted.
